The patient was a 51 year old woman with a history of
rapidly progressive cognitive impairment and ataxia of gait.
She developed
intermittant jerking motions of both arms and legs, and expired 4 months after
the first symptoms developed.
MR images revealed increased signal in basal
ganglia, which worsened over the two month time interval between images.
